Okay this is a pretty interesting intro.

So much I watched it like 50 times and I have thoughts about it

First of all the song goes super hard and I aprove.

Gay? Gay

Super gay

What I like most about this first part of the opening is the contrast. In the first image the two girls are in the same rose, naked and facing each other as they spin. In the second one tho, they are using their magical girl(?) clothes, have their own rose and spin looking at the same direction
(just in diferent speed)

instead of facing each other

Then this happens

Something relating their magical girl busines changed their relationship, or will do as the series develop

Neat

This is a v pretty logo (is that red thing above a rose or a gem? I will assume is a rose, there are roses everywhere in this intro)

This is femme + butch aesthetic

Also I like how they stand out, pointing out how important they are for the plot

Also when they turn around it gives the impresion that they are looking at each other. Cute

Roses, roses everywhere. Pretty sure this mean something but idk what yet

I feel like the designs of our two main chicks were basically made to be oposites of each other.

Utena’s clothes are red and black, her hair is light pink and she has it loose, she has light skin and blue eyes.

Anthy’s clothes are white and green, her hair is dark purple and is tied in a bun (I actually thought she had short hair, just weird looking because anime lol, Im blind), her skin is dark, her eyes green and she wears glasses

I rly like this transformation scene, v elegant, also look, its the same white rose Anthy gave Utena earlier in the intro

It looks like the castle is falling and is going to crush everyone.

Well, maybe it will, idk

Hey look, villains. I dont know what to say about them :v Nice designs I guess.

Wait no, all of them are wearing the same outfits, except one. Why

Well this is ominous, the battlefield is destroyed and our two main girls face each other, as if they were about to fight. Also note how the camera gets closer to Utena, while Anthy seems to move off from it

As the battlefield is destroyed, this guy opens his eyes, meaning that maybe the destruccion triggers his awakening or that maybe, he is the one responsible of it. Im also going to note the fact that he is the only other character besides Anthy with dark skin

Another scene where I could have sworn these two were about to fight each other. Also their horse remids me of these figures who appear as the battlefield is destroyed around Anthy

The girls lose their color as they are separated from each other and Utena ends up alone, feeling the loss of Anthy (the empty rose) as the song states that she will change the world

I can smell the angst in the horizont
